ALLIGATOR

The alligator is related to the crocodile. The American alligator lives in the lowlands and waters of the southeastern United States.

Alligators look a lot like lizards in shape, but have thicker bodies and tails than most lizards. An alligator's eyes seem to stick up above its skull so that it can see above the water while the rest of the body is under water.

Alligators sleep in the day and hunt at night. They use their tails for swimming and their feet for walking, not for swimming although their feet are webbed.
