POLAR BEARS
The polar bear lives in the arctic regions and is white. It is one of the largest bears. The polar bear has bristles on its feet. The bristles are to prevent the wet soles from freezing to the ice or slipping.
The mother hibernates during the long winter nights. The den is under the snow. She may have babies during the winter. Polar bears eat fish, seals and walruses. The father does not hibernate.
The polar bear is a strong swimmer and is not afraid of the open water. A well grown polar bear weighs from 800 to 1,000 pounds.
