Chapter Seven

The Magazine Sale

by

Marisa Rinkevich

Everyone noticed that George looked bigger. The class decided to measure him. He had grown to two and one-half inches!

The next day at chapel, a man announced that the magazine sale was beginning. By the following day, George already had fifty orders? The next day he had fifty more orders, and the next, and the next and the next and the next.

At the end of the sale, Mrs. Watts, the school principal, had a key chain, backpack and a mini scooter for the winner of the magazine sale. She announced, "The winner is... George! Please come up and get your prizes." Mrs. Watts did not know George was a grasshopper.

George hopped up on the stage. Mrs. Watts said, "I repeat, George come... a grasshopper is on my head!" George politely said, "Hi, I'm George."

Mrs. Watts was amazed. She gave George the backpack, key chain and mini scooter. Mrs. Watts and George became friends.
